Luzon has been getting plenty of rainfall for this past week. There was no typhoon; just the habagat (southwest monsoon) aggravated by the tropical storm Haikui, which is pummeling eastern China. Though it was no Ondoy, who brought 455 millimeters of rain in 24 hours, the torrential rains that poured over Metro Manila and outlying provinces had the same devastating effect. Dams overflowed, rivers and creeks swelling up in size, flood waters filling up streets, and many are left homeless.
